FAQ

About Question Hub

What is Question Hub?

Question Hub is a tool that enables creators to create richer content by leveraging unanswered questions. Question Hub collects these unanswered user questions and surfaces them to bloggers, writers, and content creators like you. With Question Hub, you can:

  • Explore topics you’re interested in
  • Use relevant user questions to create more comprehensive content for your audience
  • Track the impact of your content created using Question Hub

What is an unanswered question, and how are questions collected?

We collect unanswered user questions using a variety of different methods. These unanswered user questions are straight from users, so you may occasionally see misspellings or questions in which the user’s intent is unclear.  We’ll continue to explore other ways to find and surface the best unanswered questions from users so we can then share them with creators.

Getting Started

Which account should I use for Question Hub?

You must have a Google Account to sign up for Question Hub. If you don’t have a Google Account, create one here by creating a Gmail account or converting your existing email account (select Use my current email address instead).

We also recommend using an account that has access to a verified site on Search Console. If you don’t have access to a verified site in Search Console yet, review options to get access here.

Where is Question Hub available?

Question Hub is currently available in India (Hindi, English), Indonesia (Bahasa Indonesia), and Nigeria (English). We hope to expand to additional countries and languages over time.

What devices is Question Hub available on?

We recommend using your computer to access Question Hub. We’re not yet optimized for tablet or mobile devices, but hope to expand device support in the future.

What if I don’t have access to Search Console?

If you own your site, verify it in Search Console.

If you are a creator for a larger organization, ask your webmaster to add you as a user in Search Console. If that’s not possible, your webmaster can also sign up for Question Hub and then download a CSV of relevant questions for you.

Using Question Hub

How do I explore topics to find questions?

Click Add Questions, and then either search for topics, or explore topics using category browse. Once you’ve found a topic you’re interested in, click Add to have user questions on that topic added to your Questions tab.

How do I answer or reject questions?

Under the Questions tab, you’ll see user questions on topics you’ve added. Use your editorial judgement to select interesting questions to write or create content about. We’ve seen publishers have success answering multiple questions in the same article or video, which then creates rich, comprehensive content for users. Note: currently, you can only submit content for the sites you have verified in Search Console, or YouTube videos.

Some questions may not be relevant to your work or the user’s intent may be unclear; feel free to reject these questions. When you reject questions, it also provides feedback to our team so we can continue to improve the questions we show in Question Hub.

How do I view the impact of the content I create using Question Hub?

Some questions may not be relevant to your work or the user’s intent may be unclear; feel free to reject these questions. When you reject questions, it also provides feedback to our team so we can continue to improve the questions we show in Question Hub.

If at any point you’d like to revoke the access you granted to Search Console data, you can do so here.

Does submitting content in Question Hub improve it's ranking on Search?

No. Submitting a video or article on Question Hub means you can see the impact of your content (see Performance tab). It has no impact on your content’s ranking on Search or any other Google property.

If you have general questions about SEO, we recommend exploring these Search Console best practices. If you have questions about your content being indexed or crawl errors, we recommend utilizing Search Console to identify and resolve any possible issues.

Will the content I submit reach the user who asked the question?

At this time, we don’t notify the user who submitted the original question when a new piece of content is available that may answer their question. However, once you publish your content, it can be discovered by Google Search, like other content published on the web (more detail on how Google Search works). Thus, if the user who submitted the original question searches for the same or a similar question in the future, your content is eligible to appear on Google Search for their query.

Can I submit existing content that answers an unanswered question?

If you see an unanswered question on Question Hub that you’ve already addressed in an existing article or video, feel free to submit your content for the question(s). When you do so, it also provides feedback to our team that the initial question may not have been unanswered.

How do I change my settings?

To see which Search Console sites you have activated, change the language(s) of the questions you see, change the display language, or update your email settings, click the Settings tab and adjust the relevant setting.

How do I delete my activity or account?

If you’d like to delete your account, navigate to the Settings tab and delete your activity, or your account and activity.

How can I leave feedback?

We’d love your feedback! If you’d like to report an issue or request a feature, click the Send Feedback button on any page to let our team know.
